Major news outlets were on hand for Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne Youngkin’s recent visit to the New E3 School where the governor praised the school’s commitment to early education.
“Schools like the New E3 School and their innovative curriculum are making a huge difference,” Youngkin told the gathering of distinguished guests during the visit, which was covered by media outlets such as CBN, Forbes, WAVY, WVEC and others.

“Over half of our Virginia students in K through second grade are at moderate to high risk for reading difficulties,” added Mrs. Youngkin, underscoring the alarming data that suggests too many children are not meeting literacy benchmarks.
The New E3 School was honored to be the recipient of Gov. Youngkin’s second-quarter salary donation. The generous gift recognizes the importance of access to high-quality early literacy education, and supports the New E3 School’s scholarship fund, as well as the critical work the school does to lead innovation in education.
The Robertson Family Foundation also generously matched the Governor’s donation in memory of the late Lisa Robertson, a founding board member of E3: Elevate Early Education and The New E3 School. In honor of her work, staff announced the opening of the Lisa Robertson Literacy Lab & Library at the New E3 School. The library will be stocked with books selected by the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, inspiring students to build a lifetime love of reading.
During the visit, the governor also shared how he worked with the Virginia legislature to pass the Virginia Literacy Act (VLA) in 2022, funded implementation of the VLA, and signed the bill to grow the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book gifting program.
