E3: Elevate Early Education (E3) created The New E3 School in the Park Place neighborhood of Norfolk in partnership with business, civic + philanthropic leaders. Our school is an innovative, data-driven, mixed-income model for children ages one to five. We set out to give more children equitable access to high-quality early education + prove that when all children have access, regardless of their zip codes, they enter kindergarten with the skills they need to thrive. We have proven that year after year. Our school has driven innovation, impact + policy change that led to historic state investment. Our impact is in the region of Hampton Roads and across Virginia (NC too).
This week we celebrate nine years of impacting hundreds and thousands of children + families. Here are a few of our milestones:
- Over 900+ children impacted.
- 93 children from low- and middle-income families receive over $2.3m in scholarship funds provided by generous donors.
- 4,000 programs across VA are using the STREAMin3 curriculum developed in our school by UVA with funding from E3.
- The Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) initiated by E3 in partnership with UVA and the Virginia Department of Education is a comprehensive school readiness tool for teachers, families, schools and policymakers. The preschool version was created and piloted in our school. E3 advocated for VKRP to be used in all state-funded preschool programs, 131 school divisions in kindergarten and for a pilot in grades 1 through 3 to better understand a student’s growth longitudinally.
- Educators, programs, school leaders, policymakers and philanthropists from across the state and nation visit our school to learn + replicate our model. More E3 School inspired school are cropping up across VA and NC.
A BIG thank you to our teachers, staff, families, board members of E3 + the school, donors and partners. we could not do what we do without you.
