Our president + CEO, Lisa Howard presents the inaugural Jane Batten Excellence in Early Education award to honorees.

Jane Batten, co-founder of E3:Elevate Early Education + The E3 School and Chief Innovation + Impact Officer, Britney Blackman received the award at E3’s Annual Board Meeting. The school is an initiative of E3:Elevate Early Education.

These women were instrumental in the success of our school. Together, they drove awareness, advocacy, public-private investment, policy change, research, innovation and impact for thousands of children, families, teachers and programs in the region and state.

Over 10 years ago, Britney Blackman started as a teacher who helped develop and design the STREAMin3 curriculum model at our school in partnership with UVA. After a few years, she was promoted to coaching other teachers in the classroom and shortly thereafter became the director of coaching. Now she is leading our school along with the incredible team of coaches, teachers and staff that learned from her.

As you will see in the pictures, there was a lot of finger pointing and giving credit to one another. What a humble group of women dedicated to making real and lasting change for so many.

We are incredibly thankful for their forward-thinking leadership, tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Make a gift to honor them today!
